LIGHTBOARDCORP® THE MANTRA 2.0 - NELO MANUFACTURED HOLLOW CONSTRUCTION RACEBOARDS
AVAILABLE IN 2 DIFFERENT dimensions - 14 x 22.2" FLATWATER SPRINT EDITION recommended up to 83kg / 14 x 23.2" up to 98kg+ FLATWATER SPRINT EDITION The MANTRA 2.0 in 22.2 " is the board of choice for Donato Freens in sprint, Normen Weber in sprint, Peter Weidert, Hermann Husslein in sprint and longdistance. Gerd Weisner as a heavy weight 90kg paddler is using mostly the 23.2" version for longdistance races.. The 23.2" has a higher rockerline and in combination with the pulled in tailblock it offers allround longdistance performance as well in windy conditions. The MANTRA 2,.0 in 22.2 width has a lower rockerline. It´s superior in flatwater sprint as the board doesn´t rise too high when pushed heavily. See the video of Donato Freens here. |

A WORD FROM THE MAKER THE MANTRA 2.0
This board suits paddlers looking for more 1st stability. It has a complete different shape concept and offers comparable speed potential in various conditions.
The bottom contour is round with accentuated V in the front. It is running into a subtle concave to flat. It is slicing through chop and waves, still able to be steered with ease. The center bottom has a subtle concave with edges gradually running from round to really sharp in the tail. This creates more 1st stability without sacrificingwetted surface which creates drag. The tail runs into flat with hard edges. The rockerline is a new development and features a flat center line and straight low rocker in the last 1/3rd which malkes the board a wash riding giant even in the 2nd and 3rd wave and will save energy when needed. Usually these shapes suffer against waves and chop but with the all new "Vround" front bottom and a balanced tail dimension it is running fast and free in headwind conditions. The dugout low stance gives good stability. Combinded with our drainage valves you stay literally at water level which gives more power to the blade as well as initial stability. The walls are high to prevent water entry in rougher conditions and super slim to offer huge standing options. They are really rigid and stable and yes a bit uncomfortabel while entering the board when you have been falling off. But it is a performance driven design.
The finbox position is directed to the front and easy to turn. We tested the 2 dimensions in multiple conditions and they offer larger paddlers some choice. The MANTRA 22.2 is recommended for paddlers up to 83 kg but also shines for more heavy weight paddlers in flat sprint racing. The 23.2" version is recommended for 83kg+ paddlers and has a bit more rocker to give best possible waterline for heavy racers which avoids backwash and makes life for your following competitors more difficult.
Cheers Gerd
Triple carbon foam epoxy vacuum heat cured race boards are lighter, stiffer and faster. The standing cockpit area and monocoque body is recognizable stiff and we offer now a double sandwich construction in the standing and central bottom area to even bring more stiffness into the hull. We offer the Mantra in 2 width and propose for experienced paddlers up to 80kg the 22" version with 290l. Best choice for rough conditions and heavyweight paddlers ist the 23.2" wide model with 306l volume.
The boards are delivered including our race keel fin -with the signature super fast profile. This fin sits perfectly in the 10" chinook us box. Lightweight neoprene handles, sea waterproof V4A screws and washers and a comfortable 5mm diamond grip pad round up the set up.

ChrisDivers individual Time Trial has been such a good motivation to test myself and the equipment in race zone. Couple of you asked to see some more pics of our alternative solution to the well known and race winning SIGNATURE model. It is called the MANTRA. I received last week the first 23.2 version which fits my weight around 90kg very well and I did the 5k and 10k trial on the 23.2 and the 22.2. The 23.2 has been working better for me and as expected it should be the choice for paddlers 83kg+ . It has a slight different rocker line than the 22.2 so that the tail sits exactly at the waterline for heavy paddlers and wash riding/draft will get much more difficult for my competitors. The benefit is a free and loose feeling.
I feel comfortable on the 23.2 with 90kg and stability is key to bring the power to the blade. So I could catch my personal best time in our 10k training run up and down the river. Excited to test in real races hopefully soon...
